Games as Educational Tools
A great deal has been written about the use of games in education. In the American Journal of Play, an article by Scott Eberle notes that although no one deliberately sets out to learn by playing, we seem to learn best that way. If this seems to be contradictory, perhaps it is. Often, if you ask a child who is involved in learning something new, “What is happening?” the answer will be “I’m playing around!” Perhaps this response is why a number of researchers have written and philosophized about the value of gaming in education.
