Constructionism
Constructionism is a theory of learning that grew out of constructivism but is applied more directly to the impact of computers and information technology on learning. Strongly influenced by Jean Piaget’s (1896–1980) constructivist theory of learning, Seymour Papert (1928– ) developed the theory that students learn best by creating tangible objects in the real world and that learning is made more authentic by helping students see how curriculum is connected to the real world. With the arrival of the computer and the digital age, Papert was convinced that the new tools were vital in helping students find and construct new knowledge.
