Computer Literacy
Computer literacy is the experience and expertise in using computers and computer applications effectively. This definition expands as the capacity for computer technology expands and now influences the realm of online education. Initially, computer skills were limited to a small group of specialists who studied and worked in the area of computer sciences. However, as a growing percentage of the general public began using computers, computer literacy as it relates to utilization expanded. This development first represented an understanding of the basic functions of a computer, developing keyboarding proficiencies, sending electronic messages (e-mail), composing through the use of word processing programs, and using the Internet.
