Communication Theory
Communication theory, also known as information theory, is the study of the nature and communication of information. Although it can be applied to communication solely between humans, it typically refers to communication of information among elements of human–machine (and especially telecommunications and human–computer) systems. Due to the complexity in developing models of how such systems communicate information, communication theory has become closely allied with the fields of mathematics and mathematical computation. Communication researcher Claude Shannon notes that the fundamental problem of communication is the exact reproduction at one point of a message sent at some other point.
