In the past two decades, much has been written about the benefits of the situational interview (SI; see, e.g., Latham, Saari, Pursell, & Campion, 1980). Among these writings is a 1989 chapter by Latham in which he recounted SI research to that point in time. Despite the fact that much of the proposed research agenda in that chapter has been addressed in the years since its publication, our encounters with consultants and practitioners conversant with the SI have revealed several issues that have yet to be addressed.
