Our purpose in this chapter is to offer recommendations for interviewing practice based on the information presented in this handbook and other scholarly sources, as well as our own experience in the roles of interviewer, trainer, consultant, and expert witness. In addition, we conducted an analysis of e-mail exchanges on HRNET, a public “listserv” sponsored by the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management and heavily used by practitioners seeking information on how best to perform a variety of human resource activities.
