Environmental Protection Agency
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a government agency in the Executive branch that is charged by Congress with administering and enforcing the numerous laws that deal with regulating the environment. Its mandate continues to generate political struggles because it involves issues affecting business, environmental groups, science organizations, citizens groups, local and state governments, units of the federal government—including members of Congress and the White House—and the public as well. Involved in the political issues are concerns over the financial costs for business, local and state governments, and the public.
