Instructional Techniques
Instructional techniques are methods or strategies that are used to help support the teaching and learning process. Typically the term refers to methods used by a teacher to help students learn, such as lecture or discussions. However, it also can refer to strategies used by an individual for self-instruction.
Instructional techniques for face-to-face classrooms are well-established, with years of practice, although variations on techniques are developed and techniques may gain or lose popularity based on dominant pedagogical thought at a given time. In distributed learning environments, instructional techniques have been based on traditional ones, with modifications to help accommodate characteristics of the distributed learning system.
