In 2005, the Japanese vascular access market, comprising short peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs), central venous catheters (CVCs), dialysis catheters (DCs), implantable ports (IPs), peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), and ultrasound vascular access devices (UVADs), was valued at roughly $180 million, growing at slightly less than 2% over 2004. This market is mature and is therefore not expected to grow over the forecast period.
