  • A selection process whereby individuals compete for a specific role and to act in a designated capacity and wherein power and responsibility are bestowed, not necessarily for the greatest good. Elections consist of formalized rules governing participation of all actors involved. There are numerous electoral systems, though the prevailing view is categorized by voter representation. Such systems include plurality majority systems and proportional representation systems. For more information, see Endersby and Krieckhaus (2008).
