  • The shared beliefs, values, customs, language, and so forth of a group of people. These contribute to the group's sense of peoplehood and are transmitted from generation to generation. They are often modified by experience or through contact with other cultural groups. All human beings have culture. When applied to individuals, culture refers to the broad set of beliefs, values, customs, traditions, worldviews, and so forth that influence how a person thinks about things, perceives events, and acts.
