  • The rights guaranteed to a group of people communally as distinguished from the rights of individual people. It includes the right to unionize with fellow workers and to engage in collective bargaining with employers, as well as the right to bring a class action suit in a court of law. In some cases, the rights of individuals and the rights of a group can overlap, or they can be in conflict with one another. In 1948, the UN's General Assembly approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It included the protection of fundamental liberties, such as civil and political rights.
