Planning can be multidimensional, including cognitive and behavioral domains, and can be based on forecasted skills and attributes that are expected to have marketability for the future. Careers that are planned can be traditional or nontraditional, as well as currently defined or undefined. Planning can be enacted individually or collectively. The purpose of career planning is to produce successful, productive, and satisfying careers.
