  • A technologically innovative economy that is driven by human capital (knowledge product), information and communication technology, and biotechnology. In short, it is a capital-driven economy that has more to do with human capital relative to physical capital. An important aspect of the weightless economy is economic integration and diffusion of knowledge within the parameters of the acknowled gment and management of property rights.

    Yet it is an economy that has inherent conflict, largely as a result of the perception of a conflict between intellectual property and human or sovereign right in the biotechnology sector, for example. The assertion of property rights and rewards may or may not result in inequity, for which proactive policy directives are important in the weightless economy.
