  • A person who experiences a loss, a hardship, or an injury for any reason. A victim of a crime, or a person who experiences victimization, is a person who directly or indirectly experiences harm as a result of the criminal actions of another. Direct victims are primary victims, who experience the victimization firsthand. Secondary victims are those who know, are related to, or otherwise care for the primary victim (e.g., a spouse, parent, or friend).
