  • The path or course of an object through space. In the social sciences, the concept of a trajectory is used to describe the path of an individual or a group over a period of time, focusing on their stability and change. Specifically, in criminology, the life course theory of criminal behavior studies the trajectory of criminal behavior over the individual life course to determine the cause of decreases (desistance) or continued involvement (recidivism) in criminal behavior.
