Theory-Driven Evaluation
An evaluation that seeks first to identify a program theory, whether derived from social science theory, stakeholder theory, or a combination of the two, which is usually represented in the form of a logic model. Second, theory-driven evaluations attempt to identify the mechanisms by which programs operate and produce their results, including the factors that mediate and moderate these results. Like realist evaluation, they are often designed to investigate how, why, and for whom a particular program works.
