  • A type of research involving the use of questionnaires or interviews to investigate human behavior or perceptions. Advantages of the survey method include ease of administration to large samples, particularly online surveys, and the anonymous nature of surveys may allow for insights into sensitive issues. Disadvantages of the survey method include issues with participants' honesty, as participants may bias answers to appear socially desirable. Participants may have memory issues and respond in accordance to “wishful thinking rather than realistically.
