  • The span of time it takes police officers to arrive at the scene of a crime after they have been called. Response time is used to measure how quickly or slowly a police force is, on average, responding to citizens' needs. This measure is regularly used to demonstrate the efficacy or failings of a police force. Rapid response time is often equated with aggressive policing, and it is assumed that a fast response will help solve or prevent crime. However, studies do not necessarily support that association.
