Research
The product and the action of methodological inquiry. Scientific research consists of investigations rooted in theory, logic, and empiricism. Research methods are wide-ranging and include traditional, feminist, anti-oppressive, and indigenous methodol ogies. Scholarly and scientific research is careful, structured inquiry that adheres to the constraints, requisites, and terms that discipline and researchers have developed and come to collectively accept. The design of an individual research project depends on the nature and context of that specific study. Quantitative research involves numerical measures and findings and allows for comprehensive statistical analysis. Qualitative research incorporates surveys, interviews, and direct observations so as to reveal nonnumerical data.
