Public versus Private Schools
The distinction between public schools, funded by tax revenues, and private schools, funded through other measures, primarily through tuition payments made by students' families. Public schools are led primarily by local administrators in the public sector, admit all children who live in the district, and are obligated to follow local, state, and federal laws regarding education, which may affect funding and the curriculum. Private schools can be selective in admitting students and have fewer obligations to follow local, state, or federal laws, allowing for more freedom in curriculum selection.
