  • The 0-degree longitude line that determines the time of the day. There are intervals on the prime meridian about 15 degrees long that stand for one hour in terms of measurement of the sun's revolution. The prime meridian passes through England, France, Togo, and down to Antarctica. It is opposite to the International Date Line and is also used for giving suitable directions. The Moon and Mars also have prime meridians.
