Phenomenological Perspective
The philosophical precursor to humanistic psychology, it is the study of consciousness from a subjective, first-person perspective, in contrast to an objectivist, third-person perspective. Skeptical of traditional scientific methods, the phenomenological approach emphasizes qualitative research methods based on self-reporting. Pheno menology is influential in qualitative research paradigms as well as humanistic approaches to psychotherapy.
