  • The process of enhancing organizational effectiveness in accomplishing the organization's goals and improving the well-being of the organization's members by applying behavioral science concepts through intervention strategies. Planned interventions may focus on macro organizational changes, which improve the effectiveness of the whole organization, or micro changes, which focus on improving the effectiveness of selected groups and individuals within the organization. Four types of OD interventions commonly used are (1) techno-structural interventions, (2) socio-technical system designs, (3) organizational transformation interventions, and (4) human process interventions. Techno-structural interventions are concerned with redesigning jobs to improve work methods, work or process flows, and relationships among workers.
