Mixed Methods Research
The type of research in which a researcher or team of researchers mixes or combines qualitative and quantitative research philosophies, techniques, methods, approaches, concepts, or language into a single research study or a set of related studies (also called mixed research and mixed methodology). The three types of mixed methods research are (1) qualitative-dominant, (2) equal-status, and (3) quantitative-dominant mixed methods research. Mixing usually is undertaken to obtain breadth and depth of understanding and corroboration. Mixed methods research is one of the three major research paradigms, including qualitative research, quantitative research, and mixed research.
