Mala in se
In Latin, this phrase translates as “wrong in itself.” Mala in se offenses are those offenses that are considered evil in and of themselves and are best understood when contrasted with mala prohibita (prohibited because of legal statutes) offenses. Murder, robbery, rape, and burglary are all examples of mala in se offenses.
