  • The practice of placing special-education students in regular classrooms for specified portions of the school day. This practice is based on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirement that students be educated in the least restrictive environment possible. Benefits include a stronger sense of belonging to the school community and a more authentic school setting.
