Individualist Culture
A culture based on the notion of individualism. Although many philosophers and thinkers, particularly in Western society, have provided various definitions of individualism, individualistic culture focuses on important aspects of the individual instead of the collective structure. The individual is to be treated with dignity and be allowed to practice autonomy. It emphasizes the importance of a person's freedom and independence from society. The individual should also have privacy from other people, institutions, the state, and society as a whole. Individualism has been applied to many areas of life, such as politics, religion, economy, and ethics.
