  • The philosophical view according to which mind or consciousness alone are ultimately real. Idealists deny that space, time, physical objects, or abstracta, such as numbers, have any existence apart from the mind or consciousness that perceives them. A related view is phenomenalism, which posits that all physical objects are constructions out of the data of sensation.
