  • A graphic presentation of data that consists of a set of bars, each representing how frequently different values or scores occur in a specified data set. It is mostly used to illustrate (statistical) differ ences between categories or to illustrate relationships by comparing several histograms when tables would be less clear in conveying the intended information. A fre quency histogram is slightly different from a bar chart, in which the bars are usually not touching each another. For more information, see Stangor (2007).
