Editors' Introduction
Research in organizational communication began in the 1940s but has mushroomed in the past three decades. Often treated as a spin-off from management and psychology, organizational communication is now a major field of its own with research and graduate studies in universities around the world. Over 50 doctoral programs in the United States offer a specialization in organizational communication and graduate training is growing rapidly in the Netherlands, Denmark, New Zealand, Australia, and Korea. Graduate programs in organizational communication have developed in a variety of disciplines, including communication, management, marketing, organizational studies, psychology, and sociology.
