Infertility Treatments
Researchers have made remarkable advances in treating infertility to enable men and women who, decades ago, would have been unable to conceive to become parents. In an era in which adoption in the United States has become increasingly difficult and costly, infertility treatments can help individuals bear children and create families in unique ways. The pace of scientific progress in treating infertility, however, has far outstripped the rate at which governments have developed policies for addressing the numerous clinical and ethical issues that arise during treatment.
