Bell Curve, The
When The Bell Curve was published in 1994, it set off a firestorm of debate. Yet the book and the debate to which it gave rise can be seen as one chapter in an ongoing argument over the nature of human intelligence and its relation to social inequality. The questions raised by the book are not merely scientific, for the authors, Richard Herrnstein and Charles Murray, employ their views on the nature of intelligence to argue for a specific political agenda.
