Note: On November 24, 2009, Yves LETERME (Christian Democratic and Flemish) was appointed prime minister after Herman VAN ROMPUY (Christian Democratic and Flemish) became president of the European Council. On April 26, 2010, the king accepted Leterme’s resignation after the Flemish Liberals and Democrats party withdrew from the coalition government in a dispute over the country’s electoral law. New elections were scheduled for June 2010.
