    Major Urban Centers (2016E—UN): SOFIA (1,304,772), Plovdiv (340,494), Varna (312,770), Bourgas (195,966), Ruse (156,238).

    Official Language: Bulgarian.

    Monetary Unit: Lev (market rate October 19, 2018: 1.70 leva = $1US). The lev is pegged to the euro, which Bulgaria hopes to adopt as its official currency, at the rate of 1.95583 leva = 1 euro.
