  • Dianne Goldman Berman Feinstein (1933–) is a Democratic U.S. senator, representing the state of California starting in 1992. Prior to obtaining that position, she was active in politics as a Democrat both in California and in San Francisco city government. She has typically been viewed as a moderate Democrat.

    Feinstein was born in San Francisco, California, on June 22, 1933. She grew up in San Francisco, attended the San Francisco public schools and graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart High School in 1951. She graduated from Stanford University in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in history, where she began her interest in politics.
