  • Dallas, Texas, is the county seat of Dallas County in north Texas. As recorded by the 2010 U.S. Census, it is the ninth-largest city in the United States and the third-largest city in Texas with a population of 1,197,816. Dallas is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metro Area. With 6,477,315 people, the “Metroplex” is the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the United States.

    John Neely Bryan settled near a natural ford on the Trinity River in November 1841. Bryan unknowingly settled on land granted by the Republic of Texas to William S.
