Columbia River
The Columbia River has its headwaters at Columbia Lake in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia, Canada, and empties into the Pacific Ocean at the border of Oregon and Washington State. The river has a length of 1,243 miles (2,000 kilometers), with 498 miles (801 kilometers) in Canada and the remaining 745 miles (1,199 kilometers) flowing through the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The Columbia River is ranked as the seventh largest river in the United States, based on the combination of its discharge (fourth), length (twelfth), and drainage area (sixth).
