Kant’s philosophy covers almost every subject. He wrote on metaphysics, natural science, anthropology, morals, aesthetics, history, theology, and politics, to mention the most important. His ambition was not only to have something original to say but also to do so in a systematic manner. In his view, the task of philosophy is to examine critically, ground, and connect theories from the other scientific fields. However, Kant’s aim is not primarily theoretical. The ultimate end of philosophy is to clarify what kind of life we should pursue as humans, citizens, and inhabitants of the same world. Hence, political philosophy plays a crucial role in his system.
