United Nations, Theories Of The
The United Nations (UN) is an international organization of 193 member states committed to the cooperative maintenance of international peace and security, and to economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. The 193 member states seek to achieve these goals through an agreed-to set of restrictions, responsibilities, and mutual obligations as outlined in the 111 Articles of the UN Charter. The history of the UN is not, however, an easy story of achieving these goals. Instead, the UN is a complicated organization of some successes and some failures.
