Abstract
On July 14, 2015, a Twitter user linked what was thought to be a legitimate report on a takeover bid for Twitter by a privately held company. Although the report was proven false within six minutes, the damage to the stock market and investors was done. With increasing rumors of a real takeover bid lingering over the head of Jack Dorsey, what can Twitter do to minimize or guard against future hoax stories?
