    Debbie Gee is a recent graduate of Victoria University of Wellington’s MBA programme, prior to which she had an extensive background as a senior public sector manager, specialising in communications, social marketing and public engagement. Her MBA research project, Can you hear the whistle blow?formed the basis for this case study. Debbie is currently working as a consultant, running her own small business and managing a charitable trust devoted to increasing young New Zealanders’ interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

    Todd Bridgman is Associate Professor in the School of Management at Victoria University of Wellington and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Management Learning. He is twice winner of the Dark Side Case Competition run by the Critical Management Studies Division of the Academy of Management. Todd has a research interest in the history of the case method and in critical case writing pedagogy, publishing on these topics in Academy of Management Learning & Education and Journal of Management Development.
