Slim & Healthy: A Successful Entrepreneurial Venture

Abstract

As time has passed, it has become a luxury to consume more or less food than necessary. Partly due to low quality food and partly due to health deterioration resulting from irregular and bad eating habits, the obesity rate in Lebanon rose. There are also cases of health issues due to skinniness, which created a market for psychological awareness, as well as daily dietary and athletic fitness programs. During that time, Alexander Smith procured a long-term vision in which he could exploit a new dietary trend that was thought to last for many years within Lebanon. In 2004, both Alexander and Victoria Smith, his wife, decided to open Slim & Healthy, a center that cares for those with eating disorders or those who are of excessive or inadequate weight and require food intake management. In what way can Slim & Healthy exploit the market to cement their dominance in the country? And how can Slim & Healthy plan a long-term succession strategy of the company for the next generation?
