Abstract
This case focuses on Djamel Belmadi, who was appointed head coach of the Algerian national football team in July 2018. Belmadi inherited a team that had endured multiple coaching turnovers, based primarily on the poor performance of the team. Belmadi’s leadership traits and styles have been essential ingredients in creating an esprit de corps among the players on the Algerian team. Under Belmadi’s leadership, the Algerian team gradually transformed from a losing football team to one positioning itself to win the coveted African Cup of Nations (AFCoN) 2019.
