The case describes how Jackson County, North Carolina attempted to implement a sustainable tourism strategy that would overcome the six barriers to sustainable tourism. This case study is a practical application of sustainability resulting in the conservation of physical, natural, and heritage environment, as well as the economic growth of a rural county in Western North Carolina.
