It is increasingly common for successful research grants to involve collaboration across multiple disciplines. As the breadth of reach and diversity of problems approached through the psychological sciences increases, scientists find themselves reaching out more often to colleagues from other disciplines to work collaboratively on a problem that exceeds their own individual expertise. In my own research life, almost every successful research grant I have written in the past 15 years has involved some type of interdisciplinary collaboration, typically with researchers in medical schools or in the field of bioengineering.
