Chapter 2: The Dynamics of Internationalization
Why internationalization? Is the nation-state being transformed because of impersonal forces or human design? If the former, what forces? If the latter, for what purposes? These questions are especially pertinent because of their political implications. If internationalization is independent of political choice, it is something to which we must adapt. If it is subject to political choice, we must consider whether it ought to be hastened or arrested. The relation between internationalization and political design is the main thread in the analysis of the dynamics of internationalization which follows.
