11.1 The Instrument and its Administration
Attribution of Success and Failure (ASUFA) Inventory assesses the respondent's attributional thinking—to what they attribute success and failure to (internal or external, and the stable or variable factors). There have been several versions. In the latest version, the inventory has 32 items (pairs).
The inventory contains 16 items for success and 16 for failure. The respondents distribute four marks between the two items in each pair. Personal and non-personal factors in both, internality and externality, with the combination of stable and variable aspects have been paired for both success and lack of success.
