29.1 The Instrument and its Administration
The OP scale measures the perceived openness and perceptiveness of people at three levels—senior, peer and subordinate—and gives the OP profile of an organisation at these levels.
The scale contains 10 items. Five are related to openness and five to perceptiveness. Openness relates to giving positive and negative feedback or expressing positive and negative feelings—sharing opinions, disagreements and personal problems. Perceptiveness relates to others’ positive and negative feelings, opinions, disagreements and personal problems. Each item is rated on a 5-point scale, for the number of persons showing that behaviour for three levels—senior, juniors and peers.
