24.1 The Instrument and its Administration
Guessing responses contains five competitive situations in which a person involved has three alternative responses. The respondent is required to guess which of the three responses the persons involved will choose.
24.2 Conceptual Framework
Extension proneness (P Ext) can be defined as a person's intrinsic characteristic (of extension behaviour), which is likely to result in overt behaviour. Details may be seen in Chapter 23.
24.3 Development of the Instrument
The instrument was originally developed for children (Pareek & Dixit, 1976). Before selecting situations for this instrument, judges rated items for their relevance to extension behaviour.
24.4 Scoring
The following scoring key can be used. The total scores will range from 0 to 10.
